    IGI Health to Provide Clinical Exchange and Portal for Accountable Care Support Infrastructure in Indiana

    ADVANTAGE Health Solutions, Inc.SM to Use ORBIT® Solutions and Services from IGI Health for Clinical Data Integration and Reporting

    PISCATAWAY, N.J. - July 19, 2011 - IGI Health, a leading provider of healthcare IT connectivity solutions, today announced that it has signed an agreement with ADVANTAGE Health Solutions, Inc.SM (ADVANTAGE) to provide the health plan with the ORBIT® Clinical Exchange and secure web-based portal for its Accountable Care Support Infrastructure. The ADVANTAGE Accountable Care Support Infrastructure pilot program was implemented for the health plan's almost 5,000 insured members and over 50 primary care providers in Kokomo, Indiana.

    Under the terms of the agreement, IGI Health will provide the company's ORBIT Health Information Exchange (HIE) and the ORBIT Health Gateway framework, allowing the ADVANTAGE to integrate clinical data and better support reporting activities throughout the network. The two organizations are launching both modules of the ORBIT infrastructure this week. By creating efficiencies and delivering additional services, ADVANTAGE will be better equipped to:

    • Reduce the unnecessary utilization of certain low-value, high cost medical services, especially emergency room and advanced imaging (CT, MRI and PET scans);
    • Encourage utilization of services at the right place and right time;
    • Partner with providers to promote outreach, health prevention and patient engagement;
    • Increase the generic utilization rate when appropriate by providing alternatives at the point-of-care; and
    • Improve member satisfaction of the overall quality of care.

    "ADVANTAGE is strategically positioned to achieve the Triple Aim: Better care for individuals, better health for population and lower growth in expenditures," says Dr. Anthony Akosa, VP medical affairs at ADVANTAGE. "An IT solutions partner like IGI Health will help us achieve this goal by providing Accountable Care Support Infrastructure solutions."

    "While ACOs are certainly becoming more prevalent across our nation's healthcare landscape, the inherent value of the model is deeply rooted in the selection and integration of an effective technology infrastructure," says Lee Barrett, CEO, IGI Health. "Through the use of IGI Health's ORBIT HIE and Gateway solutions, the ADVANTAGE Accountable Care Support Infrastructure pilot program will have the tools needed to achieve three key, long-standing goals in healthcare: improve population health, enhance the patient experience and reduce the overall cost of quality care."

    IGI Health provides a range of IT connectivity and information exchange solutions that enable organizations to integrate diverse systems and manage administrative, financial and clinical transactions in an effort to enhance revenue cycle and reimbursement management workflows. Through its position as a national clearinghouse and healthcare solutions technology innovator, IGI Health is laying the foundation for sustainable accountable care organizations and health information exchanges across the country.
