Health Data Store:

Orbit® Data Repository

The Orbit® Data Repository is a collection of Data Sets gathered from clinical, medication and revenue cycle transactions.

Orbit® has a comprehensive healthcare specific data repository and standards-based information model coupled with a set of integrated services for data normalization, customer-defined security and auditing, archiving and business process/workflow.

Metadata Repository

The Metadata Repository is built dynamically by collecting the information from all the participating entities. It contains metadata on the forms used for reporting and data capture, the set of fields in each form (form-fields), and the association between each form-field with its corresponding database field(s) to provide a consistent and reliable means of access to data. The metadata is stored in a set of tables that richly define and express the data and formatting requirements for any reporting needs.

Electronic Health Records (EHR) Repository

The EHR repository is a central database for a patient's medical and clinical records. It contains the patient's demographics, claims, prescriptions, lab results, and authorization/referrals data. The data is captured in a state-of-the-art relational database management system. The repository, along with the front-end, is used to access and analyze patient data at the point of care. It includes not only the description of the patient, treatments and procedures, but also detailed clinical documentation that must be associated with the more structured patient data. Some of the salient features of this repository include:

  • Open API (Application Programming Interface) - The data is readily available to the patient and other entities in the healthcare system.
  • Latest Patient Data - The database is also capable of storing the real-time data collected by the gateway and pulled in using web service requests.
EHR Repository

The provider can request Patient Historical or Current information for:

  • medical results, X-Rays from Labs
  • medical prescriptions
  • diagnosis and procedures from medical claims
  • The patient's entire Electronic Health Record available in the network

Providers can request the information from a specific participating entity, or let the system poll all entities and build a record set with all the associated EHR information.

The EHR information can also be provided, without PHI content so research firms, employers, government and approved agencies can analyze the health of a specific city, state, geographic region, etc. The data can be used to determine consumer health and wellness. Health patterns and risk can be identified and analyzed, and care plans can be derived for the benefit of all residents within a geographical region, thereby providing higher quality care at point of service and reducing total spending on healthcare. This also helps reduce healthcare fraud, and provides a true consumer-driven healthcare model.

Rule Base Validation

The rules based engine validates and enforces complete data integrity. These rules represent the complex inter-dependencies between the data. The rules are currently represented using XML data encoding.

Data security

The data security is enforced by encrypting the patient data in OrbitŪ at the database, transaction and application levels. The critical patient data is masked ensuring data security in all environments. This helps to ensure the privacy and protection of personal data. Strong authentication methods are implemented to protect the patient data from unrestricted access.

Data Availability

Once the data is stored in the OrbitŪ database, it can immediately become available to authorized users throughout the healthcare continuum: acute care facilities, clinics, surgery centers, wellness and home health care centers, and doctors' offices.
